WWU - PT Edition #3 PLUS A WORKOUT!

I had my first private workout with Jared at my gym and it went so well!  Oh man, I was so happy to be back there, and I think one of the reasons it was good is that Jared called me the day before the workout to discuss what I should not be doing, plus he wanted to know what I was doing in PT so he wouldn't replicate it.

The next day I went in early to do an In Body scan, which weighs you and measures the percentages of your muscles, body fat, lean mass, etc. I wanted to do a scan to have a baseline of where I am right now so I can hopefully see some progress in a couple of months.  The scan shows your previous scan results, and yes I've gone down in muscle and up in body fat - but hey, I've lost 3 pounds!  On one hand I take that number with a grain of salt because I felt more compact when I had 5% more muscle, but on the other hand, I was shocked with the loss because there's been a lot of candy consumed.

I brought my PT workout sheets with me to show Jared and he went through them while I was doing the scan, asking a lot of questions.  Then the workout began!  As with PT, he is working with me to get my form good, so everything I did was slow and deliberate.  It was funny though because I've done those exercises with my group but I know I wasn't doing them as properly as I was during my private workout.  Still, after my first set of 20, I had broken a little sweat, which felt AWESOME.  I miss doing things that make me sweat.

My left side is much weaker and more unsteady than my right side so we're doing baby steps to strengthen it.  During one exercise my left leg was having a lot of pins and needles and when I mentioned it, Jared had me change my knee position just the tiniest bit and it stopped.  I was hoping that I'd made the right decision to begin workouts again, but when Jared did that, I knew I was going to be OK with this.

I go again tomorrow, yay!  I wish I could afford to go twice a week but holy moly is it expensive, and I'm still going to PT once a week with a copay for that...so yeah.  Once a week it is.

Speaking of PT, I had last week off from going in because Amanda took a much-deserved vacation.  Even so, I did my exercises every day, and there are a couple that I am not super fond of doing, but there are also a few that I will end up doing when I'm healed because they feel so good.

Lately I've had two coaches watching me exercise:
Here they are conferring with each other as I was midway through my floor exercises.  I hope they were happy with my performance.

Yesterday's PT visit was interesting in that there was a lot of troubleshooting with positions during certain exercises that either caused my left leg to pull and hurt, or get massive pins and needles.  It really is amazing how I can get that to change just by moving my leg a little in a different direction.

I also got several new exercises to add to my routine, which is good - plus they are becoming more advanced so that makes me feel better about this whole situation.  The movements that I do now are a lot bigger than they were when I began PT so I am improving.  I know I've come a long way from lying on the couch for two months in agonizing pain, and I'm glad for that - believe me - but dang it, I really wish I was back to 100% already.  I hate being patient!

P.S.  Happy Birthday to my Mom!  Today she turns...nah, I wouldn't do that to her.
