Brooklyn’s Sol Sips and Forager Project Create Vegan Nachos to Help At-Risk Youth

Brooklyn, NY-based vegan cafe Sol Sips recently partnered with vegan brand Forager Project to create a limited-edition Nacho Average Nachos menu item with the intent to donate proceeds to charity. The dish will be available at Sol Sips on August 26 and features tortilla chips, refried beans, pico de gallo, coconut-based cheese, and Forager Project’s vegan sour cream. For each nacho plate sold, $5 will be donated to Hands4Hope, an organization close to Sol Sips founder Francesca Chaney’s heart that provides support for at-risk youth from low-income and minority households by providing after-school programs, including cooking and nutrition tutorials.

“We’re very excited to partner with Forager Project in serving an intentionally crafted dish that serves a higher purpose,” Chaney told VegNews. “2020 is the year of collaboration and collective work. We are grateful to take part in this initiative, as it allows us to share and redistribute resources back into our community.”

The initiative runs until September 26, and during that time Sol Sips will also be offering free Forager Project Cashewmilk Yogurts (while supplies last) to customers who are interested in trying plant-based products.
