The constant fluctuations in weight on the scale is so disheartening
From November to May I went from 172 lbs to 156 lbs.
I only actually logged my weight once a month during that time. I weighed myself daily and compared it to the last log I had though and it felt good because the numbers were so drastic. It was a constant decline. I didn't plateau at all.
Since then I've been logging about every other day and it's a constant roller coaster. Over all since then I've lost another 8lbs. (I think) I'm down to 148.6 now, since that's what I was the last few days. I'll vary 1-2 pounds for a week and then when I hit a pound or two lower than that 1-2 lbs range then it'll become the new standard and I'll very between 1-2 lbs from that, and so on.
- M: 155
- T: 156
- W: 154
- T: 155
- F: 154
- S: 153 - new standard
The next week will be
- M: 154
- T: 153
- W: 152
- T: 152
- F: 154
- S: 151 - new standard Etc
It makes it so difficult to tell whether I'm actually losing weight or if I'm plateauing, or even it's water weight or fat. Some weeks my range will be like 2-3lbs and other weeks it'll stay within 0.5lbs. It just looks like spikes with a random small drop every week or every other week.
How do I track myself right? How can I tell what weight I should compare against? I've tried taking the average but since the range varies week to week, it's hard to not be discouraged. How do I figure out what's water weight and what isn't? Should I expect the 172-156 to be the largest jump in water weight that I'll have? Could that jump just have been entirely water weight? How would I even know if I'm plateauing? Is there a good app for tracking? help me pls, I'm sad
