For the 1 person that needs it, check your hormones

This is definitely not a normal advice to give for weight lost but I think it’s really important to talk about especially when looking at weight lost/gain. Often weight gain is associated with laziness or personal bad behavior, so when our own bodies are fighting against us it ruins the whole journey. Personally, I thought there was something wrong with my behavior when my body didn’t cooperate with exercise routines and diets would not work. I assumed the pain I felt from exercising was a reflection of that “laziness” instead of a symptom of hormonal imbalance. It didn’t help that, despite a healthy diet and exercise, I still gained weight and felt like shit. Only when my boyfriend was deeply concerned with my extremely poor body heat regulation did i get checked out and discovered I had a thyroid condition.

Now on my medication, I am losing weight about a pound a week. I don’t hurt or feel absolutely miserable when exercising. I’m sweating and my muscles feel alive. Been on the right medication for about 1 month and I’ve lost 3 solid pounds. 3 pounds is not anything to celebrate over but the point is I feel good for once in my life. I have energy and I can recover. I’m taking it slow and paying extra attention to my body this time too. I’m slowly increasing the amount of time I spend exercising, and I’m aggressively sticking to my Asian diet with no snacks and avoidance to wheat. But the main point is I feel good during and after I exercise. I still feel the pain/burn, but at least my muscles and bones don’t hurt the way it use to. My brain doesn’t get foggy after exercising. I can recover now.

Idk, it’s not a normal advice to give for weight lost but maybe one person needed to hear this.

Edit: forgot to mention. I have Hashimoto’s. Apparently the pain and brain fog I felt was due to using up my T3 hormones.
