Got fat again after losing 35 lbs.
L&G, Good day. Need your professional advice on what to do next. This is gonna be a fun story. I'll try to make it short. I'm 5'8 btw and 28 yrs old. Sorry for my English (not from US). Reading time: 10-15 mins. I had no idea on how to lose my weight properly so maybe it will be a lot of fun for you to read. Fasten your seatbelts :) Here is what happened:
Dec 1, 2019 | Weight: 190 lbs. Decided to lose weight and bought dumbells to do home workouts. Also limited myself to 1200 kcal per day (pretty dumb I know).
Jan 1, 2020 | Weight: 180 lbs. Doing home workouts 3 times per week, eating 4oz of protein every day.
May 1, 2020 | Weight: 158 lbs. I was doing the same program as I mentioned above. When I started lifting the initial weight of my dumbels was 10 kg per each and I gradually increased that to 22 kg during those 6 months.
Jun 1, 2020 | Weight: 156 lbs. Noticed that my lifting program stopped working. I felt myself tired every time and muscles stopped growing. Tried to change exercises but it didn't work.
Jul 1, 2020 | Weight: 156 lbs. Stopped any home workouts. Also stopped my everyday proten intake. I thought maybe I could rest for a month or two while keeping the same weight.
Sep 1, 2020 | Weight: 163 lbs. Started slowly gaining some weight for no reason. Never ate anything about 1200 kcal. All gyms were still closed and I had to find another source of workout since dumbells stopped working. I could continue doing home workouts the same way I did before but for some reason I felt myself extremely lazy every time I looked at the dumbells. I found a barbell in the park and thought maybe bench pressing could help me to keep the same weight. Started doing bench pressing 3 times per week and returned my everyday protein intake.
Dec 1, 2020 | Weight: 175 lbs. I had some progress with bench press started from 50 kg and eventually made it to 75 kg (8 to 10 reps). Lifting bench press was amazing but I slowly got bigger and bigger and in May I had 15% body fat but in Dec I was about 21% so you get the idea how much fat I got.
Jan 1, 2021 | Weight: 180 lbs. Decided to rest for a month again. Btw never considered going to the GYM because I was afraid of getting a bad coach who would only think about the money rather than me. Probably silly thought :(
Feb 1, 2021 | Weight: 182 lbs. My weight started to annoy me again. Read on Reddit that 1000 kcal diets kill metabolism and I should slowly go back to my normal metabolism rate which in accordance with TDEE calc is 2000 kcal. I thought I would add 100 kcal every week and finish on 2000. I guess this is the funniest part :)
May 1, 2021 | Weight: 192 lbs. 2000 kcal, jeez. For all this time I was eating more or less healthy food per day: scrambled eggs, 1-2 fruits, pasta, whey protein, cheese. I avoided sparkling water, chips, sweets and other junk food with a lot of sugar. On Sunday I always had cheatmeals but it worked before so I decided to keep it. But got 192 lbs anyway. I felt sad and decided to stop everything.
Oсt 1, 2021| Weight: 187 lbs. Watched some youtube channel and found out that running and walking could help to lose weight too. I always knew that but never liked the cardio though. Decided to walk everyday 7-8 miles per day and one day for rest and reduced my kcal to 1200 again.
Nowadays. I lost maybe 2-4 lbs but feel myself extremely tired everyday and progress is super slow. It barely works despite losing about 700 kcal almost everyday.
Thank you for reading this BS. I know I made a ton of mistakes. This is hilarious. When I read all of this I just realized what the F*** i just done.
Maybe you could point what exactly I was doing wrong (SPOILER ALERT: EVERYTHING) and what to do next. I'm desperate right now and don't know what to do. Any advice would be MUCH, much appreciated. Want my 156 lbs back :(
Thanks. Thanks. Thanks.
