Oatly Just Launched Its First Vegan Cream Cheese Line in the UK

This week, Swedish brand Oatly launched its first oat milk-based cream cheese line in the United Kingdom. The brand’s new Creamy Oat Spread is available in Tomato & Basil, Cucumber & Garlic, and Plain flavors at retail chain Tesco and select locations of Sainsbury’s. Oatly is also meeting consumer demand for vegan whipped cream with the launch of Whippable Creamy Oat, a heavy cream made from oat milk, which is available alongside its new cream cheese line at the same retailers.

Oatly launched the new products for use as-is and as cooking ingredients for dishes such as cheesecakes topped with whipped cream. “This opens up the potential for a variety of new plant-based recipes and meals for our consumers. We’re increasingly looking for ways to give people a great tasting alternative to use throughout the cooking process,” Oatly UK General Manager Ishen Paran said. “We want to make it as easy as possible for people to make the plant- based switch without having to sacrifice on taste, or miss out on their favourite meals. By creating new, high quality products that are versatile, we can deliver on our mission to help people consume more plant-based products which are kinder to the planet.”

Oatly in the US

The Swedish brand first gained popularity in the United States at coffee shops in New York City around 2017. Since then, the brand has launched several products stateside, including a line of oat milk-based vegan ice cream and yogurt in a variety of flavors. According to reports, Oatly is planning to go public this year and could raise as much as $1 billion through its initial public offering.
