I honestly thing IIFYM (If It Fits Your Macros) is the best way to eat
No I’m not a nutritionist. No I am not a doctor.
Just from my anecdotal experience, I can say IIFYM has helped tremendously in helping me lose 15lbs in the last two months. I’ve tried many diets; keto, vegan, fasting etc- none worked. However, on IIFYM sometimes it doesn’t even feel like I’m in a calorie deficit! I still eat fruits and vegetables but I’m able to fit in treats and other nice food so I don’t go crazy. I think restriction is hard enough as it is. So don’t restrict food- just calories. Anything goes as long as it fits your macronutrient and calorie targets for the day.
Would you believe me if I told you I’m able to eat ice cream and Alfredo pasta everyday? Of course everything is weighed out and I use lower cal options like low cal ice cream for example. However, I don’t feel like I’m restricting myself! For once this diet feels truly sustainable and I can do it for the long term.
